Part Robot...Mostly Human

Found this on another Diabetes blog I regularly read.

I've heard talk about this artificial pancreas in the past...but it's exciting to see we're a step closer to getting it!

It's amazing how far we've come! I gave myself my first shot when I was 8 years old...which I vivedly remember and from there took 3 shots a day until I turned 15 and got a pump.

Getting the insulin pump was life-changing...and I can't imagine not having it!

Take a look at the first insulin pump!

Yikes!!!

Ha!!! And I get frustrated sometimes with trying to figure out how to comfortably wear my pump with a dress! I have NOTHING to get frustrated about after looking at this picture.

I'm currently looking into a pump upgrade...so thankful for my insurance coverage! I can even get it in pink!!!

Every now and then, I stop and think at how amazing (and a little scary) that a beeper sized device, along with a vial of liquid, is keeping me alive!

Most days I'm overwhelmed by what I need to do to manage my Diabetes. I really need to be more grateful for how far we've come with research and treatment...and then take advantage of that and work even harder because I have the resources right in front of me.

  1. Hey!
I saw your were following my blog so I decided to follow yours too! =]

I'm so grateful for how far diabetes management has come because of all the research! That picture is frightening! Thankfully, insulin pumps have gotten a bit smaller...lol. But it is scary to know that my little minimed and a vial of insulin are what's keeping me alive! Love them!
